Our new summer Intern Jesse Muzzy started her work for the summer on May 23. She will be with us till August 1. Jesse is a rising Senior at George Mason University, majoring in Environmental Policy with a minor in Global Affairs. She is interested in environmental issues, awareness and interdisciplinary research. On campus she works in the hydroponic greenhouse and has completed over 65 hours of environmental and sustainability related service learning volunteer hours.
Already she has hit the ground running with development of VCE Master Gardener displays for the Alexandria VCE Open House on May 26, assisting with registration and facilitating the Northern VA Urban Forestry Roundtable on May 26 in Alexandria, assisting with a Spanish Language Pesticide Applicator Recertification Training with me in Fairfax County on May 23. Other major projects she will be working on include: the Master Gardener Demo Garden plant labeling database creation, the Arlington County Fair exhibit for ANR, and the Urban Agriculture Symposium planning and organization.
She will also be researching and assisting/delivering public education classes on Rose Rosette (Commercial Pesticide Training in June) and our Brown Bag presentations on June 14 and July 14 on respectively, Landscape Insect Pests and their Damage and Foliar Disease Identification and Management.
