City of Alexandria Maintains Access to Farmers’ Market Vendors Through Pre-Orders Only

To maintain access to fresh food while promoting social distancing during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the City of Alexandria has directed farmers’ market food vendors to offer only pickup of pre-ordered food until further notice. This direction is intended to ensure that vendors comply with the letter and spirit of Governor Northam’s March 23 executive order, which bans gatherings of more than 10 people and prohibits farmers’ market customers from congregating. Arlington Farmers Markets Able to Reopen with Pre-Orders

Arlington’s Farmers Markets can re-open this weekend in a new format – farmers can only offer preordered sales. On Wednesday, the Governor’s Office and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) issued additional guidance to provide a means for farmers markets to continue to operate.
To limit the exposure to Covid-19, vendors are not permitted to display food or on-site shopping. This guidance enables markets to remain open giving Arlingtonians access to fresh, locally-grown food while promoting social distancing. More . . .

The City of Falls Church Farmers Market will be open during the COVID-19 pandemic with a “to go” format that complies with the guidelines from Governor Northam and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS).
