    White Wood Aster is a loose-clumping and sprawling White Wood Aster is a loose-clumping and sprawling herbaceous perennial with lance-like leaves on its zig-zag stems. The plant often grows to 3 feet but can be sheared to 6 inches in the early summer to produce a more compact plant.

    The seed heads of White Wood Aster are characteris The seed heads of White Wood Aster are characteristic of the Aster family and consist of cypselas, dry, ribbed, single-seeded fruits with numerous cream-colored bristles for wind dispersal. They serve as food for juncos and goldfinches.
