Website Changes

Our website continues to evolve as we add more and more content. Here are some highlights of current changes – and stay tuned for a site redesign including the return of responsive design for your phones and tablets later in 2021. We hope you find these changes useful.

Reorganized Navigation

You may have noticed that our drop down menu has changed. Where once we had Tried and True Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic as a separate menu item, we have now incorporated that important section into a more general Plants section.

Plants

Under Plants, you can find five major categories:

1. 1. Invasive Plants and Better Alternatives
   2. Native Plants for the Mid-Atlantic – Tried & True
   3. Plants for Particular Uses – Best Bets
   4. Vegetables and Herbs
   5. Weeds

Don’t forget to move your cursor over to see subcategories for each section!

     Revised in February you can access it here or sign up to get in your email box!
   • Herbs – Season by Season Growing Tips  (New in 2021!)
     This brand new guide incorporates advice given in the previous quarterly Herb Supplement to the Between the Rows newsletter into a permanent resource page on everything herbal, including detailed information, resources, and seasonal to-do lists.

• • Planting Dates for Arlington and Alexandria
    This two page handout is one of our most popular and heavily used resources.
  • How & Why to Test Your Garden Soil
    This short video from Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture on how & why to test your soil features VCE Extension Agent Kirsten Conrad.
  • Select On-Line References for Kitchen Gardening
    This great resource page has many many links on Vegetable Gardening. and is updated on a regular basis.
  • Urban Agriculture – Master Gardener Virtual Classroom
    Check out all of our recorded classes on container gardening, edible landscaping, foraging, fruit trees & berries, microgreens, and vegetable & herb Gardening (Basics of Vegetable Gardening, Garden Design, Pest Management, and Seed Starting).

We have added so much content under Public Education that we’ve had to split it up into more pages. Our newly organized Master Gardener Virtual Library menu now has five pages with a lot of new content!
