Grass_Schizachyrium_scoparium_nodes_and_open_sheath_Oct_MMF

Characteristic of grasses, the stem of native Schizachyrium scoparium (little bluestem) has solid joints (nodes) with hollow internodes. Its leaf sheath is open in front, common to grasses and rushes, but not to sedges whose sheaths are closed.
