The Simpson Park Demonstration Garden is located at 420 East Monroe Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22301, within Simpson Park, between the YMCA and Eugene Simpson baseball stadium. Parking is available along Leslie Avenue and in the YMCA lot.
Simpson Park Demonstration Garden is an urban garden and haven for people, pollinators and wildlife. Seventeen garden beds showcase a diverse range of native plants and trees, ornamental perennials, and unusual specimens. Our garden demonstrates best horticultural practices including attracting pollinators, conserving water, pest control by natural means and thoughtful landscape design. Features include scented, shade, pollinator, tufa rock gardens and several mature tree specimens. The garden evolves throughout the seasons and years.

Education through good horticultural management practice is a hallmark of the Extension Master Gardener program and each month at Simpson Garden we will be focusing on a different garden related theme.

The theme for June is Gardening for Pollinators and Other Wildlife. Join us on June 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10 a.m. for our “Hey, June Bug!” program – we will have informative handouts, seeds, butterfly soak kits for children and guided tours of our Pollinator and Butterfly Soak beds.
June 24th we will be hosting a public education event on spring pruning.
Come visit us every Tuesday/Thursday morning at 10 a.m. throughout the growing season to ask questions about our vast variety of plants or to seek answers to your specific home garden issues. We’ll offer pop up talks and tours of the garden as well.
