Clearwing Hummingbird Moth
Buddleia (butterfly bush) is a non-native plant considered invasive in some areas and apparently a host plant to the destructive brown marmorated stink bug. However, it also happens to be a magnate for butterflies and moths. Unlike owlet moths that mostly are active at night (left, probably laudable arches), the hummingbird clearwing moth (right) feeds during the day. Photographs © Mary Free
