Irrigation Uncovered: Drip Irrigation for Above-Ground Gardeners
June 6, 2025 10:00 – 11:30 a.m
Are you tired of hand watering the pots on your patio or your vegetable garden? Do you strive to maximize your garden’s beauty and bounty while minimizing your use of water? Drip irrigation is the answer to your problems. Join Extension Master Gardener Stephanie Halcrow to dive deep into the topic, reviewing the various types of irrigation and learning all you need to know to design, install, and maintain your own system. As a bonus, this class will incorporate aspects of therapeutic horticulture to maximize your enjoyment of your garden. Note: This class will not cover lawn sprinkler systems.

Everybody needs a best bud—even your veggies. Garden buds will increase the plant diversity in your garden, making your plants healthier and resulting in higher yields. Buds will also bring more beneficial insects and pollinators to establish natural pest controls. Join Extension Master Gardener Nina DeRosa, a leader in our Organic Vegetable Demonstration Garden, for our discussion on companion planting, and gain confidence to employ this concept in your garden. This is the second of three shorter, focused classes (approximately one hour) on vegetable gardening.

Gleaning
We glean at local farms to pick produce and deliver it back to Arlington area feeding programs. This significantly contributes to our produce donation efforts and helps connect us with local farmers. Our 2025 gleaning schedule is soon to come! Sign in to see current dates. If you haven’t already, sign up to volunteer and indicate that you would like to glean.
