What type of inflorescence is a composite flower?
An inflorescence is a flowering structure consisting of more than one flower. The term for the inflorescence characteristic of the Asteraceae (the aster or composite family) means “little head” in Latin. Some published flora use the term “head” interchangeably with or instead of this term, although composite flower is the term commonly used by gardeners. Click here to learn more.
