🐛The Marvelous Monarch

September 21, 2025 @ 10:00 am 10:30 am EDT

Free

For kids! Join Extension Master Gardeners as they share the life and plight of the monarch butterfly! We will begin with storytelling from the beautifully illustrated book, Monarch and Milkweed by Helen Frost and Leonid Gore. The story is about the amazing life journey of this declining species. Children will learn what they can do to create a habitat for monarchs. After the story, kids will play monarch life cycle games. Smaller children may wish to wear a monarch costume, pretending to land on milkweed to lay their eggs. Finally, children will receive milkweed seeds to plant now and zinnia seeds to plant in the spring. Both species are important to sustain the monarch journeys both in north and south directions. At least one parent or caretaker must remain with each child.
