
- Plan this season’s garden.
- Continue to harvest winter crops from cold frames or other season extenders.
- Continue to monitor your Winter garden, including soil moisture and temperature inside cold frames.
- Monitor and repair any season extension equipment, as needed.
- Inventory your remaining stored and saved seeds from last year.
- Buy seeds and order starter plants from your favorite garden catalogs.
- Order asparagus and horseradish crowns, if you want to establish these plants in your garden
- Cover any exposed soil in your garden with 2-4 inches of mulch; add organic matter to vegetable beds, when possible.
- Prepare beds for cool season plantings in the coming months, and prepare to test your garden soil in early Spring.
- Start from seed indoors some cold-season crops and herbs, using heating mats/lights or finding a warm sunny spot in your home; or start seeds outdoors, using the Winter Sowing method.
- Start sprouting rooting herbs, such as ginger and turmeric.
