The immature female cones of non-native cultivar Platycladus orientalis (syn. Thuja orientalis) ‘Blue Cone’ are a bright glaucous blue instead of the green to pinkish brown color of native Thuja occidentalis cones. When mature the cone scales will open to release the seeds.
