#MasterGardener #MGNV
Ament, another word for catkin, is a racemiform or spiciform inflorescence. Aments/catkins are unisexual and appear on monoecious species, like birch, hickory, hornbeam, oak, and walnut, which bear both male and female flowers on the same plant or dioecious species, like willow, that bear male and female flowers on separate plants.
